FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Venice, Italy — Mirmont Pictures has released the first official images from the set of their latest production, LIMONE, a short motion picture written and directed by
Sohrab Mirmont, the award-winning producer behind Riddle of Fire, a Directors’ Fortnight breakout at the Cannes Film Festival.

Filmed entirely on location in Venice, LIMONE is a poetic and visually arresting tale of grief and redemption. The film began principal photography in February 2025 and is currently in post-production, with a release expected later this year.
The story follows Marino, a weary Venetian water taxi captain haunted by the loss of his son, as he prepares to disappear into the sea forever. But a series of unlikely encounters—including a young local in need, a quirky B&B cleaner, and a soulful street musician—offer him an unexpected second chance. As Marino tries to give away a mysterious crate filled with both emotional and literal weight, he finds himself tethered to life in ways he didn’t anticipate.
Tagline: You never know who's saving who.

"LIMONE is my most personal work to date," says Mirmont. "It was born from the grief my partner and I experienced during the pandemic, after losing several friends to suicide. This film is an exploration of those moments when a single choice—to save a life or end one’s own—can change everything."
LIMONE stars Giovanni Funiati (Sisi, Netflix Germany) alongside a talented all-Italian ensemble including Alessandro Bressanello (The Hand of God) and Alberto Vecchiato (The Empress, Netflix). The film was shot by acclaimed Director of Photography Oscar Ignacio Jimenez, whose previous works have premiered at Sundance and Tribeca.
Mirmont, who also served as lead producer and editor, developed the project over the last three years through his company Mirmont Pictures. Co-produced by Apricitá Pictures and producer Christine Ahanotu, the project also features co-producers Brianna Davis and Brooks Forester. The film was produced independently as a proof-of-concept for a feature-length adaptation, also to be filmed in Venice.

Originally slated as a feature, the film's financing was delayed due to shifts in the independent film landscape. Rather than wait for traditional studio funding, Mirmont Pictures chose to move forward independently, believing in the project's vision and potential.
Mirmont, the nephew of legendary filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, describes the film as “an ode to my uncle’s legacy—subtle, soulful storytelling rooted in human truth.” With LIMONE, he aims to continue that tradition, capturing the unseen emotional moments that define us.
Director's Statement:
“This is my attempt to carve a unique path in cinema while honoring the storytelling traditions that shaped me. In LIMONE, I want to explore the quiet intersections of grief, hope, and human connection—how even in our darkest moments, the world might still reach out and save us.”
