CEO of Mirmont Pictures, Sohrab Mirmont Asked to Speak at FanX

Updated: May 26, 2020

Award-winning Director and Producer Sohrab Mirmont of Mirmont Pictures is making a repeat appearance at the 2019 FanX in Salt Lake City, Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT August 31, 2019

The celebrated Mirmont Pictures CEO, Sohrab Mirmont will be appearing at the 2019 FanX taking place September 5-7 at the Salt Palace.

Mirmont has formerly spoken on FanX panels such as, "Super Micro-Budget Filmmaking," and "You don't need permission: Getting your independent film made," in January of 2015.

He also spoke at the much larger Comic-Con in September of 2015, following the release of his acclaimed feature film The Freemason starring Comic-Con alumni Sean Astin.

Sohrab joins the 2019 FanX convention again as a panelist, this time speaking on the "Hallmark Christmas Movies" panel on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 10am-11am.

Mirmont will also sit on the, "How to build a Superhero physique" on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 12pm-1pm.

Sohrab admittedly says that he himself does not have a superhero physique (yet), but is qualified to speak on the panel as he lost more than 70 pounds at age 21, by eliminating negative eating habits and implementing major lifestyle changes, which he says is crucial when it comes to changing the way you look and feel. According to Sohrab, "I enrolled in martial arts when I was a kid. I was in the Dojo 4-5 hours a day for over a year, but I never lost a pound. After each session, I would drink a big Gatorade to stay hydrated... which I eventually discovered has as much sugar as a Coke. It wasn't until later that I realized no matter how much exercise you do, it doesn't matter if you're still eating garbage."

Creative Director of Mirmont Pictures, Brianna Davis is a life-long vegetarian turned mostly vegan. She says, "On Mirmont Pictures sets, we view food as fuel. Our craft services and catering follow our health views, and as a result, we are proud to have very focused and efficient sets. Sohrab and I have worked on other company's sets where junk food and drinks are on tap at crafty, and animal-based catering is served for meals, and we have both noticed the downward spiral they cause in everyone's energy and focus. In fact, on one set, the director was rendered absolutely worthless after a BBQ lunch, that the DP had to step in and finish the shoot. We have been inspired by James Cameron's sets where a vegan meal is provided, and his viewpoint is essentially, "This food is free and you can eat it, or you can go get whatever food you want"; he won't cave in his health values to cater to what people want. Alexander Hamilton said, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything". Good health is what we choose to stand for as a company, and as people. Sohrab is the ideal panelist on the topic of building a physique, because he has transformed his body and mind, and is a huge inspiration to many!"

Sohrab Mirmont has won multiple awards at Comic-Con including Best Director, Best Editor, and Best Cinematography. He has won 18+ awards at other festivals, and has been nominated for 25+ awards. His first win was in 2005, when his short film, The Beautiful Wind won the Audience Choice award at the New York International Film Festival. Mirmont is currently working on two feature films, and wrapping up a humanitarian project that will air next month.
