[Park City, Utah] - [April 18, 2023] - Cannes Film Festival's Directors' Fortnight is thrilled to announce that "Riddle of Fire," the feature film debut of director Weston Razooli, has been selected for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival's Directors' Fortnight program. Such films that have premiered at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight are George Lucas’ debut THX 1138, Martin Scorsese’s breakout film MEAN STREETS, THE LIGHTHOUSE, WHIPLASH, Sophia Coppola’s THE VIRGIN SUICIDES, and Ken Loach’s BLACK JACK (One of the major creative inspirations for Riddle of Fire).

Riddle of Fire stars Lio Tipon (America’s Next Top Model, Crazy, Stupid, Love), Charles Halford (Constantine), Charlie Stover, and Lorelei Olivia Mote, and was executive produced by Jay Van Hoy and Donna Gruneich, a member of the Sundance Film Festival’s Board of Trustees and founder of Sundance’s Catalyst film funding program.

The film was produced by Sohrab Mirmont, whose past theatrical credits include "The Freemason" starring Sean Astin, and "Green Flake," the true story of enslaved pioneer and Latter-day Saint Green Flake. Mirmont will be in attendance for the world-premiere along with the cast and some members of the crew.

"Riddle of Fire" was filmed entirely on location in Park City, Utah, utilizing the states tax credit and veteran crew assembled by Mirmont and his team. The film was shot entirely on Super 16mm Kodak film by cinematographer Jake L. Mitchell, and the visuals are nothing short of spectacular. The film's selection for Cannes' Directors' Fortnight program is a testament to the talent of the exceptional filmmaking team behind the project.

In a letter to the cast and crew, Mirmont wrote, "This is a tremendous accomplishment and testament to the dedication, talent, and hard work that each of us brought to this film to bring Weston's vision to life."

The Cannes Film Festival's Directors' Fortnight program highlights up-and-coming directors and filmmakers and takes place in the prestigious city of Cannes, France, from May 16 to May 27.

This year's festival promises to be a celebration of international cinema, and "Riddle of Fire" is honored to be among the films showcased at this world-renowned event.
