Award-winning filmmaker returns to ZIFF with new Venice-set short film

At the 2025 Zions Indie Film Fest, Mirmont produced the short film From Way Up Here, which was awarded Best Short Film, making his return to the festival with LIMONE a continuation of a growing relationship with ZIFF and its filmmaking community.

LIMONE has been officially selected to screen as part of Short Film Block 7, taking place on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 2:30 PM, during the festival’s 25th anniversary edition, running February 23–28, 2026.

Filmed entirely on location in Venice, Italy, LIMONE follows Marino, a weathered Venetian water-taxi captain navigating grief, redemption, and human connection amid the city’s historic canals.

The short film serves as a proof of concept for a feature-length version currently in development and continues its festival run following awards recognition and screenings in both Utah and Los Angeles.

“ZIFF has been an important festival for me,” said Mirmont. “Winning Best Short Film last year and returning in the festival’s 25th anniversary year with LIMONE feels especially meaningful. It’s a festival that truly supports filmmakers and creates real community.”
